Brow-Tastic Halloween Looks

October 22, 2019

halloween-brow-looks

Halloween is quickly approaching, and we know just how stressful it can be to find the perfect last-minute costume. Costume shopping can be costly, time consuming, and wasteful!

We’ve created some simple yet spooky makeup looks with the help of some everyday palettes and our Precision Brow Pencils to help you make a statement wherever you find yourself this spooky season! Need a visual? Click the photos to check out video tutorials!

SPOOKY SPIDER EYE

This creepy crawler look is sure to turn some heads.

  1. Start with your everyday (or full beat) foundation routine for an even base.
  2. Fill in your brows with browluxe® Precision Brow Pencil in your perfect match shade, and complete your contour, bronzing, blush and highlight routine as normal.

Note: the bolder the brow fill and contour, the more dramatic the final look.

  1. Trace out the web with a steady hand and quick small stroke motions. We suggest using a pencil eyeliner OR browluxe® Precision Brow Pencil in C-03 COAL or N-02 CARBON for extra staying power.
  2. Use a red eye-safe liner on your waterline and blend it out with a red shadow to soften the effect. Add a darker shadow for more depth and continue to blend out.
  3. Create an intense smoky eye using the colours of your choice! We suggest dark purple, orange/rust tones or red to keep with the Halloween theme. Start with your shade of choice in the crease as a transition colour, adding in darker shades to build depth as you go.
  4. To make the eyes pop, add some shimmer shadow, liquid glitter eyeshadow or glitter to the centre of the lid.
  5. As a final touch, add a wing liner and build out the web to connect to the tip of the wing.
  6. Go back in with your browluxe® pencil to fill and further define the lower lash line and web. Customize and add additional web as you’d like!
  7. Add highlighter to the inner corner of the eye.
  8. Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes – use falsies if you please.
  9. Add your spider shape or other creepy crawler to the web to finish up. Voila!

CREEPY CLOWN

October - the only time we’re okay with clowns.

  1. Apply an orange eyeshadow to the lower lash line. Blend out to diffuse down over the entire lower eyelid – go as far down as you’re comfortable. We suggest the lower ridge of the eye socket.
  2. Take the same orange shadow into the crease of the lid, blending the colour up and diffusing towards the brow. Be sure to keep the edges soft. Extend the colour all around the eye, adding to the inner corner to ‘connect’ to the bottom lash line.
  3. Add a deep brown shadow to the lower lash line. Blend.
  4. Add same deep brown shadow to the crease; continue to blend and perfect.
  5. Line lower lash line with browluxe® Precision Brow Pencil in N-02 CARBON.
  6. Using the browluxe® pencil, draw a vertical line straight down to the centre of the apple of your cheek, starting at the lower lash line. Draw concave lines from the inner and then outer corner of the eye down to the same point; connecting as one with the middle line to form a ‘sucked in’ triangle. Fill in and darken. Add a dot at the point.
  7. Using the same browluxe® shade, cover the entire lid, stopping at the crease. Extend outward to create a winged liner. Finish with a dot at the point.
  8. Mirror the under-eye triangle on your forehead, originating from the top line of the brow.
  9. Add highlighter to the inner corner and arch of the brow bone to add depth.
  10. Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes – use falsies if you please. Done!

SCARECROW

So scary you’ll keep more than the birds away.

  1. Start with your everyday (or full beat) foundation routine for an even base.
  2. Add orange blush or eyeshadow to the apples of the cheeks using a blush brush. Diffuse and blend out. Take this shade back onto the ridges of the cheekbones as a diffused contour.
  3. Continue the same shade onto the chin and blend out.
  4. Using the same orange pigment on an eyeshadow brush, create diffused teardrops at the top line of the head of the brow, blending upwards.
  5. Add pigment to the tip of the nose. Blend out.
  6. Take the orange into the crease of the eyelid and blend out, creating an even dispersal of colour from inner to outer corner of the crease.
  7. Bring the orange shadow down to the lower lash line and buff in.
  8. Add depth to the eye by blending the orange shadow into the inner corner.
  9. Use an orange or rose shimmer powder shadow, liquid shadow or glitter to cover the lid.
  10. Taking the same orange matte pigment as previously used, apply to the lips using an eyeshadow brush. Blend out initially and then pack on more densely to increase the tone. Stay within the lip line. Have an orange lipstick? Feel free to use this instead!
  11. Fill in your brows with browluxe® Precision Brow Pencil in your perfect match shade.

Note: we suggest an ombre fill; starting with natural strokes at the head of the brow and working back to a full bold fill at the tail to emphasise the orange pigment addition of the look.

  1. Using browluxe® Precision Brow Pencil in N-02 CARBON, create vertical lines on your lips approximately ¼ of an inch apart. Extend the lines slightly past the lip line.
  2. Create horizontal lines from the corners of your mouth outward on both cheeks; following the natural upward curvature of a ‘smile line’. Extend the vertical lines on your lips outward over the horizontal lines to mimic stitches.
  3. Switch over to N-01 COFFEE or W-01 WALNUT to create freckles on the apples of your cheeks within the orange pigment ‘blush’. For the most defined freckles, simply place the pencil straight onto the skin, holding the pencil perpendicular to the surface of your cheek and twist in a 360-degree motion.
  4. Reverting back to N-02 CARBON, create a square (or your preferred shape) on the tip of the nose just within the borders of the orange pigment. Add small ‘stitch’ lines to the perimeter of the shape, and small freckles within for dimension.
  5. Fill the orange space above the eyebrows and on the chin with freckles to bring cohesion to the look.
  6. Coming back to the eye, use N-02 CARBON to define the lower lash line. From this, pull vertical lines down to create dramatic lower lashes. Pull a line from the outer corner of each eye to add a winged liner effect.
  7. Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes – use falsies if you please.
  8. Add highlight to the cheekbones and inner corners of the eyes. Finito!

Jazz up all three looks with some accessories and you’re good to go! These looks are so simple yet so fun.

You’ll spend next to nothing and you won’t waste a store-bought costume you’ll only wear once.

As usual, you’re sure to stand out amongst the crowd.

Be safe, have fun and be sure to tag us in your looks! #wearebrowluxe

Here are some more fun brow-focused ideas if you’re looking for more inspiration:

SPARKLE BROWS

Use cosmetic grade clue or a strong hold lash glue to adhere your favourite sparkles, glitter or rhinestones to the brow.

Your bangin’ brows will pair nicely with these costumes:

  • Space Queen
  • Ice Royalty
  • Majestic Wizard
  • Bug or Beatle

FLUFFY, FEATHERY AND FEROCIOUS

Draw attention to the eye using amazing texture. With cosmetic grade glue, secure feathers into the eye brow after you’ve defined with a browluxe® Precision Brow Pencil, or fun-coloured eye liner or pigment of your choosing!

Amazing pairing for the following looks:

  • Bird
  • Carnival Spectacular
  • Circus Act
  • Witch
  • Jungle Feline

PLANT POWER

We love a good green-scheme. Incorporate your favourite flowers and/r foliage into your look straight from the brows themselves. As with the previously mentioned looks, an amazing cosmetic grade glue would be a fantastic solution; we also suggest a coordinating head piece.

Here are some of our favourite plant-powered looks:

  • Alice in Wonderland Characters
  • 70’s Flower Child
  • Forest Creature
  • Ruler of the Forest

TRICKS OF THE EYE – OPTICAL ILLUSIONS

Now, we could pretend like we have any idea what these kinds of looks would involve…
